every new beginning comes from some other beginning's end

Well, I haven't finished BioShock. In fact, it's probably going to take me forever to finish it. I've been busy.

This Monday I gave my 2 weeks notice at my current job (where I've been for 3 years) to take another job in a completely different field.

I'm going to try teaching. Sort of. I'll be working for a small SAT prep company, teaching kids how to totally pwn the test ("pwn" is not an SAT word).

I probably haven't mentioned it on these pages before, but I've always really liked standardized tests. I'm good at them. I've also for years kicked around the idea of teaching, but have never been able to pull the trigger because...I'm a wimp. Or, I was a wimp.

Today for breakfast, I had victory.

  1. Really? Because I totally had this analogy when I took the SAT.

The answer, apparently, was "demagogue." I never could remember what that one meant...

  2. brodie: yeah, really really excited. i start tomorrow.

lucas: hahaha... can you believe they took analogies out of the test? i'm heartbroken. that would've been a great example to use on a class.

  4. That's pretty cool Mike that you are thinking of teaching. I currently attend a University where I'm studying Business Education, Minor in Marketing and Cooperative Education.

Being a teacher is very rewarding, but it also has its downfalls--low pay, you basically work 12+ hours a day, 7 days a week.

To me though, it will all be well worth it.

  5. hmpf...that is morphologically correct. sat prep sounds quite like the get up some one without a clue would try on. id say try teaching some kids to write like you or take a try at a novel because you are quite something to read; i love it, actually!
